Text Box: 2008 Year in Review
Text Box: T-ball (5-6)
The t-ball season was the first chance for the girls to learn about softball.  This year there were two teams and they all learned about softball and had fun doing it.  There are a lot of new talented players in the league this year.  We are looking forward to having all the girls back next year.
Coaches – John Wark & Bill Malloy
Rookie Teams (7-8)
Runnemede is a great little town, and the RGSL is a great organization, whose goal is not only teaching the girls the sport of softball, but to provide a safe and FUN outlet for their boundless energy.  We had a blast this past season, and we think the girls did too, but don’t take our word for it, ask the girls in your class who played for the RGSL.  We look forward to seeing all of the girls back next year, and we hope to see a lot of new faces, ready to.............. PLAY BALL
"Rockets”
The 7-8 year olds, (Rookies), featured two teams of 21 girls between them. 95 percent were age 7 and will be back next season on this same level. The amount of improvement from the beginning to the end of the season was excellent. Not only was having fun the main goal for these girls, but learning the game and being competitive as well. They did just that as the season was a great success. The future of Runnemede, with this group of girls, will be bright as they have shown that there is a lot of talent in our town and they know how to make it fun.
Mel Jaggard (2008 "Rockets" coach)
“Dragons”
Don’t miss out on the fun next season.....My Name is Tom Sherry [Coach Tom]. This year I coached the Dragons.  It’s been a few years since I coached girls this young, and it reminded me of why I got into coaching in the first place.  We had a fun season, we won some, and we lost some, but every girl on the team, learned a great deal about softball, as well as sportsmanship, and the team concept.

Text Box: Minors (9-10) “Thunder”
The Thunder was a very young team this year. Thirteen out of the sixteen girls had never played at this level before and there was much to adjust to in addition to finding at bats and playing time for all the girls. The end of April found the team in last place with a 1-4 record. The girls entered the Berlin tournament the last weekend in April not quite sure what to expect but ended the weekend knowing full well how good they were. After knocking off previously unbeaten Pine Hill in the first round, Runnemede staged an amazing comeback against Magnolia and advanced to the championship game of the tournament. The momentum gained from the tournament success pushed the Thunder to winning six of their final seven regular season games. The team finished the season one game out of first place and won their opening round playoff series.  The team is looking forward to another big year next season and invites you to join us.
Majors (11-12) “Blue Socks”
The Blue Socks played very well this year. This was a team that learned that hard work and dedication does pay off.  This team showed up to play at every game and continued to shine throughout their season.  Congratulations on a great season girls.
Juniors (13-15) “Outlaws”
The Outlaws won the 2007 Championship last year and the new team had some expectations to live up to. But they took on that challenge and made it their goal to go back to back and win another championship. However, the team was new with many new faces but they overcame that challenge and gelled together to form a very competitive and fun team. Their great sportsmanship and attitudes made this a very enjoyable team to watch as a fan and also to coach. The season ended with the girls falling one game short of meeting their goal, they finished second in the division. But next year most of the girls will be back and will be ready to go after that goal again!
Seniors (16-18) – Will add a 16-18 team next season.

Text Box: Season in Review
The Runnemede Girls Softball League had a very good 2008 season. Our Junior Division won the opening day tournament and our Minor Division placed 2nd in their opening day tournament. The teams played well throughout the year and had very good results. The Junior Division won the conference they were in and finished in 2nd place in their division, the Majors won their respective conference and also finished 2nd in their division. The Minors made it to the playoffs and finished in 3rd place in their division. The Rookies and T-Ball both had very and productive seasons as well.
